Here's an interesting statistic from a report released today at the meeting of the International Whaling Commission in Portugal -- whaling watching makes about $2.1 billion each year.

According to the report, that's more than the whale hunting/eating industry makes for all of its constituent countries. Translation: it pays to watch the whales, rather than slaughter them.
